Do you know what’s saving the economy? Latina entrepreneurs! Latinas are starting their businesses at a fast rate. We are the fastest-growing demographic for new small business start-ups ranging from online shops, beauty services, and more, all trying to survive throughout a worldwide pandemic.
A little about myself, my name is Yesenia, I am a young Latina under DACA who recently started her skincare business venture. I’am the founder of Truth Skin co., a vegan skincare line.
I recently turned 30 and quit the corporate job I had been at for over 5 years. I always knew I wanted to be my own boss and have my own business, but the opportunities seem very small for someone that was not born in the states just raised. I was afraid to go on this new venture with the thought of thinking I was limited to my financial resources due to my status. But let me tell you where there’s a will, there’s a way. It was scary at first to leave my 9-5 with a secure paycheck every two weeks, but where there is no risk, there is no reward.
Creating Truth Skin co. and trusting my plan was the greatest decision I could have done for myself and my family's future.
For those who are looking into starting their own business do it; yes, it’s scary because you don’t know if it will work or not, but what if it does? But before starting your business venture, I would highly recommend having a well-rounded plan and strategizing, especially financially.
Let me tell you a little about Truth Skin co. Why I chose to go with a vegan, organic, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sugar and spice, and everything nice brand (just kidding about the sugar and spice).
If you didn’t know our skin absorbs up to 60% of the products we apply to it – it could be a scary thought if those products are synthetic, processed, and full of preservatives, chemicals, and toxins. Additionally, when the skin absorbs products, they go straight into the bloodstream. Over time, the absorption of non-vegan ingredients can potentially cause negative side effects on your skin. While many of the nonvegan ingredients are not harmful, you probably are getting more vitamins and minerals from the ingredients that come from plants when you use vegan products. The amazing benefit of vegan skincare formulas is that the ingredients are taken from plants and have way more vitamin goodness than non-vegan products. Not only that but bundles of antioxidants, minerals, and natural oils help repair and maintain soft skin and keep your skin looking and feeling fresh for longer periods.
Our vegan products are often rich in vitamins filled with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Since they typically contain fewer ingredients, it can be easier to understand exactly what you’re putting on your skin. Therefore, using them helps remove excess oil and any pore-clogging impurities and, as a result, treat and prevent acne giving the skin a silky-soft texture.
Our Truth Skin products are also rich in Vitamins such as B, C, and E, which help in cell regeneration, keeping your skin looking young, vibrant and glowing. Our product ingredients such as aloe vera, chamomile, green tea, and lavender have been used for centuries for their healing and cosmetic properties. They are filled of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, they are also great on all skin types, susceptible skin and help with skin problems such as eczema, allergies, and skin inflammation, among many others.
If you’re worried about cost, fear not with veganism becoming so popular in the beauty industry, affordable options are now available (and by affordable, we mean even compared to non-vegan products).
Overall, the benefits of a vegan skincare regime are too amazing to miss out on. So make the switch today and enjoy beautiful, flawless skin with the wellbeing of Mother Nature.
